Spider Sweet

"Spider Sweet" is a giant mechanical spider made of recycled materials, mixed metals and LEDs. Her legs maneuver independently, gradually evolving her position throughout installation. As Bryan’s first Burning Man Honoraria project, her creation was inspired by the symmetry of an airplane engine and brought to fruition by a large team of volunteers. Her glowing LEDs, heart abdomen and friendly face offer participants the opportunity to be embraced by her inviting web thus changing their perception of a creature often misunderstood. Spider Sweet challenges us to re-examine our beliefs that stem from a place of fear and ignorance.
